I wandered lonely as a cloud
That floats on high o’er vales and hills,
When all at once I saw a crowd,
A host of golden daffodils;
Beside the lake, beneath the trees,
Fluttering and dancing on the breeze.
Continuous as the stars that shine
And twinkle in the milky way.
They stretched in never-ending line
Along the margin of a bay;
Ten thousand saw I at a glance,
Tossing their heads in sprightly dance.
একাকী মেঘের মতো ফিরছি ঘুরে
পেরিয়ে উপত্যকা পাহাড় সোপান
চলতে চলতে দেখি গুচ্ছভরে,
স্বর্ণালি ড্যাফোডিল কি যে অনুপম;
হ্রদের ধারে, বৃক্ষরাজিতলে
মৃদুমন্দ বাতাসে দোলে নৃত্যতালে।
তারকারাজির মতো জ্বাজল্যমান
ছায়াপথে মিটিমিটি জ্বলে অবিরত,
ছড়ানো-সাজানে শোভা সারি আগুনান
সাগরের তীর ঘেঁষে ফুটে অবারিত
হাজার দশেক হেরি পলকে হেথা
উচ্ছ্বল নৃত্য-তালে দোলায় মাথা।

I wandered lonely as a cloud
That floats on high o’er vales and hills,

The Theme : The main theme of the poem is ‘happiness and imagination’. The poem suggests that the natural elements have spiritual power to soothe the sufferings of human minds. In his imagination, the poet finds his heavenly happiness in the lap of nature. In company of daffodils, the loneliness of the poet is replaced by joy.
(কবিতাটির মূলভাব হচ্ছে ‘সুখ ও কল্পনা’। কবিতাটি বলে যে প্রাকৃতিক উপাদানসমূহের মানুষের মনের যন্ত্রণা উপশম করার মত আধ্যাত্মিক ক্ষমতা রয়েছে। কবি তার কল্পনায় প্রকৃতির কোলে স্বর্গীয় সুখ খুঁজে পান। ডেফোডিলের সংস্পর্শে কবির একাকিত্ব আনন্দে রূপ নেয়।)
