The Victorian Period
ভিক্টোরীয় যুগ
(১৮৩২–১৯০১)
১৮৩২ খ্রিষ্টাব্দ থেকে শুরু হয়ে ১৯০১ খ্রিষ্টাব্দ পর্যন্ত মোট ৬৯ বছর সময়কে ইংরেজি সাহিত্যের The Victorian Period বা ভিক্টোরীয় যুগ (১৮৩২–১৯০১) বলা হয়। রাণী ভিক্টোরিয়ার নাম অনুসারে এই যুগের নামকরণ করা হয়। তিনি ১৮৩৭–১৯০১ সাল পর্যন্ত শাসন করেন। 19th শতকের এই যুগের প্রধান বৈশিষ্ট্য হলো— Industrial Revolution (শিল্প বিপ্লব), উন্নতি ও সমৃদ্ধি এবং দাস প্রথার বিলোপন ইত্যাদি উল্লেখযোগ্য।
এই যুগের দুটি অংশ। যথা—
- The Prs–Raphaelites (প্রাক–রাফেলীয়)
- The Aestheticim & Decadence (নান্দনিক সৌন্দর্য এবং অবক্ষয়)
- The Prs–Raphaelites (প্রাক–রাফেলীয়) এর সময়কাল (১৮৪৮–১৮৬০)।
- The Aestheticim & Decadence (নান্দনিক সৌন্দর্য এবং অবক্ষয়) এর সময়কাল (১৮৮০–১৯০১)।
