Superlative to Positive

Rule — 1

উদাহরণ :

Superlative : Jerry is the smallest boy in the orphanages.
Positive : No other boy in the orphanages is as/so small as Jerry.

Superlative : He is the wisest man in the village.
Positive : No other man in the village is as wise as he.

Superlative : He is the best boy in the class.
Positive : No other boy in the class is as good as he.

Note

(i) No other, of any, any other এর পরে Noun বা Pronoun এর Singular form বসে।
(ii) all other, most other, many other, few other, very few, one of the এর পরে Noun / Pronoun এর Plural form বসে।
(iii) Superlative Degree এর পরে of all/of any থাকলে তা তুলে দিতে হয়। উদাহরণ :

Superlative : It burns the prettiest of any wood.
Positive : No other wood burns so/as pretty as it.

Superlative : Mutton chop was the cheapest of all dishes on the menu.
Positive : No other dishes on the menu were as/so cheap as mutton chop.

Practice more :

Superlative : Dhaka is the largest city in Bangladesh.
Positive : No other city in Bangladesh is as large as Dhaka.

Superlative : He is the youngest boy in the class.
Positive : No other boy in the class is as young as he.

Superlative : Mim is the most beautiful girl in the village.
Positive : No other girl is as beautiful as Mim.

Superlative : Gold is the most valuable metal.
Positive : No other metal is as valuable as gold

Superlative : Great Expectations is the most popular of all novels.
Positive : No other novels are as popular as Great Expectations.


One of the যুক্ত Superlative Degree কে Positive Degree করার নিয়ম :

(i) Very few বসে,
(ii) Superlative Adjective এর পর থেকে সব বসে।
(iii) Verb এর Plural form বসবে।
(iv) As/So + Superlative Adjective এর positive form + As বসে।
(v) প্রদত্ত Sentence এর Subject বসে।

উদাহরণ :

Superlative : He is one of the best boys in the class.
Positive : Very few boys in the class are as good as him.

Superlative : Iron is one of the most useful metals.
Positive : Very few metals are as useful as iron.

Superlative : Chattogram is one of the largest cities in Bangladesh.
Positive : Very few cities in Bangladesh are as large as Chattogram.

Superlative : The fox is one of the cleverest animals.
Positive : Very few animals are as clever as the fox.

Superlative : Toyota is one of the most expensive cars.
Positive : Very few cars are as expensive as Toyota.

Superlative : Bangladesh is one of the most fertile countries.
Positive : Very few countries are as fertile as Bangladesh.

Superlative : He is one of the wisest men in the locality.
Positive : Very few men in the locality are as wise as he.

Superlative : Gold is one of the most precious metals.
Positive : Very few metals are as precious as gold.

Superlative : Rabindranath is one of the most famous poets in the world.
Positive : Very few poets in the world are as famous as Rabindranath.

Superlative : London is one of the biggest cities in the world.
Positive : Very few cities in the world are as big as London.

Superlative : Anna Karenina is one of the best novels in world literature.
Positive : Very few novels in the world literature are as good as Anna Karenina.

Superlative : English is one of the best languages in the world.
Positive : Very few languages in the world are as good as English.
