Lina’s Prudent Intervention Became a Turning Point for Sohel

Lina is a student of class ten. One day in the afternoon, she was gossiping with her friend beside a pond near her house. While gossiping, she noticed two small boys quarrelling over a trifling matter. She did not take it seriously thinking that their quarrel would come to an end soon. But she noticed that their quarrel was getting more and more serious. They were on the verge of getting entangled in violent fight. Lina was worried about them. She along with her friend hurriedly approached towards the quarrelling boys. Going to them, Lina at first separated the two boys from each other and then asked them the cause of their quarrel. From their response, she came to learn that they were quarrelling over their moral character. She learnt that they were Sohel and Nibir living in the same neighbourhood. They were friends and read in the same class. She also learnt that Sohel was a liar and cheat. So, when Nibir criticized his character, they got involved in such a violent conflict. Lina asked Sohel if Nibir’s allegation against him was true. Sohel strongly opposed Nibir’s allegation. Sohel and Nibir were speaking loudly. In the meantime, two of their friends appeared at the spot. Lina asked them about Sohel’s moral character. Their witness proved that Nibir’s accusation was true. Lina looked at Sohel. Sohel kept silent with his head bending low. Lina held his hand softly. She told the story of the shepherd who was a liar. Sohel apologized and promised near to tell a lie and deceive anyone. Lina said that she was very happy at Sohel’s such a positive reaction and change. Then she made Sohel and Nibir embrace each other. The boys went away happily saying goodbye to Lina and her friend.
